Dear friend,
Last week’s post was somewhat a funny one and I couldn’t help but laugh at stories I read from other people. Anyway, I believe you are faring well.
Mental health has gradually become a common topic on the lips of the people in recent times. The World Health Organization (WHO), defines Mental Health as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.(mentalhealth.gov)
Self-care does not cost you a fortune. You should be able to take care and also manage your mental health because sometimes, it gets messed up. In other not to lose it totally, I will tell you a few ways by which you can manage your mental health properly.
1. Accept who you are
We all cannot be the same. It’s much healthier to accept that you are different and unique than to wish you were like someone else. Feeling good about yourself boosts your confidence to learn new skills, visit new places and make new friends. Good self-esteem helps you get things together in difficult times.
2. Talk to someone
When you talk to someone frequently about how you feel or what you think, you can maintain your mental health because you won’t have thoughts that are bottled up in your mind.

3. Be active
Exercise regularly, be cautious of your health. Eat good and nourishing foods, sleep well, relax, read books and you will feel better.
4. Do not be shy to ask for help
Sometimes, when things do not go as planned, do not hesitate to ask for help. No one will judge you. Local services, family or friends, just be sure to ask for help.
5. Give yourself a ‘me time’
Do not be afraid to take breaks. You should have your personal time and also do things that you like. Travel, make friends, read books, listen to podcasts and so on.
All of these and many more are quite important as regards to your mental health. Your mental health is very important, you should take care of it as best as you can. Enjoy the rest of your week.
With love and light,
Deola
